Minutes of April 22^nd, 2008 Meeting

POST MEETINGopened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities. Jim Alexander, American Legion Commander was introduced as a guest..

Acting Officer of the Day, Dominic Amatangelo, introduced Al Ducharme as a newly transferred member. Dutch gave a brief account of his service in the Navy during World War II.

Commander Bill and QM Dave informed that our post needs 150 points to qualify for All State honors and we have already earned 140 points due to the diligent effort of our members.

National Guard Picnic on May 3^rd and 4th in Rush Park was discussed at length and members approved a donation of $850 to support local service families during local Guard units overseas deployment. Jim Crowley and Jim Alexander will send full details of our participation plans and location of the event.

Memorial Day Commander Bill and Jim Alexander will appear on May 1st local TV channel to promote our May 27th Memorial Day program at the Seal Beach pier. It was decided to change our ceremony time to 2:00 P.M. to avoid conflict with other local events that day. QM Dave will send details of speakers, etc. at a later date.

Sr. Vice Commander Dan Schmaltz presented a $100 personal donation to QM Dave that is in addition to the $500 donation generated by his post web site. These donations will used to benefit Veterans causes.

R. Coronado distributed a sign up sheet for our quarterly Breakfast at the Old Town Café on Main St. in Seal Beach.

QM Dave presented the financial report showing an opening balance, receipts, disbursements and closing balance.

Buddy Poppies are still available for members to sign up and present to the public prior to Memorial Day. QM Dave should be contacted for details.

Sr. Vice Dan Officer Nominating Committee chairman presented names at our 2^nd and final meeting for nominations. Members voted their approval of all officers as nominated. Installation of the following officers will be conducted at our next meeting on May 27^th.

Jim Bradford conducted the VA Hospital Garden Center celebration of Earth Day on April 18^th, 2008 and is rightfully proud of all the improvements at their rehab facility.

Next regular meeting is Tues May 27^th, 2008 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting)
