Minutes of April 24, 2007

POST MEETING opened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Robert Coronado in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.

Commander Bob discussed our Patriots Pen Entry and reminded members of our $100 cash award to Gabriel Barajas. VOD literature from the district was distributed. He also gave a report on the Los Al Veterans Park and their need for skilled volunteers.

QM Dave gave the financial report showing the balance at the end of the quarter ending Mar 31, 2007.

Service Officer Dave emphasized the need for blood donations and to obtain the new Red Cross Forms that entitle our post to obtain credit for these donations.

Orange County Fairgrounds VFW Booth need volunteers to help man the booth from July 13-Auguest 5, 2007. Rod Carpenter is the chairman and should be contacted for more information. This is an excellent opportunity to increase membership.

R. Soto discussed the need of the Atlantic Sailor Crew for donations. The subject was tabled for further study.

Adjutant Wayne requested assistance of all members to contact sponsors of our Newsletter to determine their interest in renewing for 2007-08.

Chairman Bill Thomas reviewed post officer nominations for 2007-08 and passed out an official ballot. All officers were voted in unanimously. We decided to hold our installation ceremony at Finbars on May 22, 2007 at 6:00 P.M. Robert and Laura Chermak have agreed to be the Installation Officers at this ceremony.

Memorial Day Ceremony plans on May 28th reviewed by QM Dave. Bill Thomas will be the master of ceremonies and encouraged all members to attend. He also discussed our efforts to obtain a speaker system for future events.

Poppies QM Dave will advise all when the Memorial Poppies are available and how they may be distributed.

Flag Day Ceremony plans on June 14th by Tom White (American Legion) and they will keep us advised on details.

Dan Schmaltz reviewed progress on our post web site and encouraged members to sign in on the guest book (www.ddsf-ent.com/vfwpost4048)

National Home Ceremony was held in the usual manner at closing.

Next regular meeting is Tues May 22, 2007 -Finbars in Seal Beach. Dinner at 6:00 P.M. followed by Officer Installation.
