Minutes of Aug 26th, 2008 Meeting

POST MEETINGopened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in
Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.
Commander Bill noted the
top priority of our post and district is and always shall be obtaining new
members. He distributed new membership forms and led a lengthy discussion on
how we should welcome back troops from overseas duty and attend functions at
Camp Pendleton, Los Al JFTB, SB Naval Weapons Station, etc. to make our
presence known to our Veterans and encourage new membership. It was also noted
that the Wings, Wheels & Rotor Expo on Oct 26th is a great opportunity for
new members.
Commander Billcongratulated all of our members who
have spent many hours working at our VA Facilities, most notable are Jim
Mueller, Jim Crowley, Dan Schmaltz and Paul Lambach. He also gave our District
Officers credit for their fine work of ensuring all Veterans obtain their well
earned new GI Bill of Rights. Jim Mueller noted that volunteers are still
needed at the Los Al JFTB and members may contact (714)904-0253 for times that
are available. Quartermaster Dan Schmaltz distributed a computerized
financial report showing an opening balance, Receipts, Disbursements and
Closing Balance for the month of July. Dan also distributed an up to date
Membership Status sheet for all to review.
Shep Finkelstein
commented on the success of our Blackboard Bistro breakfast meetings and the
public relations benefit of this local function. He also dist a Dept of Veteran
Affairs card from their VA Staff Psychologist.
Commander Billis
organizing our Nov 11th Veterans Day program at the Seal Beach Pier and will
keep all advised of details
Newsletter discussion was lengthy and
was tabled after motion was made and approved to form a committee to determine
how we should proceed. The committee plans to meet on Sept 8, 2008 (1:00 P.M.)
and will report back to members with their recommendations.
Next
regular meeting is Tues Sep 23rd, 2008 at the Naval Weapons
Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting)
