Minutes of August 28th, 2007

POST MEETING opened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.

Post Charter was draped in memory of Comrade Wayne Thurman by Officer of the Day Robert Moore followed by a prayer from Chaplain Robert Soto. Commander Bill noted that his wife Mary Thurman is a member of our Ladies Auxiliary.

Commander Bobassigned the following new post responsibilities: VFW Poppy Chairman-Bill Connolly, Patriots Pen & VOD Chairman-R. Heenan, Post Breakfast Chairman- R. Coronado.

QM Dave gave the financial report and members commented on need to place more of post funds into CD's or MM Funds to obtain better returns. QM Dave will explore options. He also noted District informed us we do not have authorization for position of Asst. Post QM. Following bills were properly approved by members: Base rent, Sea Cadet relief fund, Buddy Poppy relief fund, Ca Legislative Program, PAC, Disaster Prog, and Wheel Chair Games. Members need to turn in activity reports to QM Dave ASAP.

Sr. Vice Commander Dan Schmaltz presented options for post business cards and all approved option #4 to initially cost $5 per 50 cards. General purpose cards were distributed to be used for recruiting new members etc. Military History form need to be returned to Dan ASAP.

J. Lingren reviewed cost of the Speaker System from E. Montana. His system will be viewed on Sep 5^th.Any decision was tabled until all is reviewed in conjunction with the American Legion. In addition Jim Mueller is securing bids from the Leisure World Purchasing Dept. Bids are still pending. Jerry also volunteered to obtain a VA Patients Garden plant and present to the Kinda Lahaina Restaurant to celebrate their reopening. All agreed..

Robert Soto passed out passes to the Flying Wheels Basketball game on Sept 1^st.

Wings, Wheels & Roto event scheduled on Oct 28^th, 2007 at the JFTB 10AM-4PM.

Social Breakfast is planned for September 5^th 9:am at the Blackboard Bistro

Next regular meeting meeting is Tues Sept 25^th, 2007 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting) Special Dinner by Ladies Auxiliary.
