Minutes of Feb 26th, 2008 Meeting

POST MEETINGopened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities after 4th birthday celebration by our Auxiliary during the 6:00 P.M. social hour. The ladies prepared an excellent meal that was enjoyed by all. Commander Bill presented a plaque to Auxiliary President Juanita Townsend to thank them for their contributions and President Juanita thanked all members for their support of all Veterans.
Officer of the Day, Robert Moore, introduced new member Ed Bond who gave a brief history of his military service during World War II. Ed served on the Kaiser built aircraft carriers that were used to transport aircraft to the Pacific conflicts
Commander Bill informed all of the success of our post with support of our troops programs, i.e., Free Phone Cards, etc. Future efforts will include our Ladies Auxiliary in their own similar programs. He informed of our efforts to support Tyler Briscoe and assist him to qualify for Eagle Scout of the year in our area.
Membership Chairman Paul Lambach was congratulated for our post reaching over 100% of our goal for members. Paul noted the VA Hospital needs volunteers to transport patients Mon-Fri during the P.M. Paul should be contacted for details.
Sr. Vice Commander Dan Schmaltz discussed his volunteer work at the VA Hospital and will keep us posted on his efforts to support our returning troops. Dan has been very productive assisting patients complete their paperwork to obtain benefits..
QM Davepresented the financial report showing an opening balance, receipts, disbursements and closeing Balance.
Quarterly Breakfast Chairman R. Coronado reviewed the overall success of our quarterly breakfast in spite of many cancellations due to the flu.
Sr. Vice Dan was named Officer Nominating Committee chairman and will present names and positions at our next meeting for 1st nominations. 2nd nominations will be held in April and May will be the installation month.. .
Adjutant Wayne obtained our Podium Easel from E. Montana Music Store. This will be shared with the American Legion and be stored in Bldg #6 for special events..
Commander Bill noted the need for new members to be escorted to their 1st mtg. and distributed Family Record Forms for all members to fill out and file.
Next regular meeting is Tues Mar 25, 2008 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting)
