Minutes of Jan 28^th, 2008 Meeting

POST MEETINGopened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities after a review by Aux Pres Juanita Townsend on their most successful effort to aid needy Military Families during the holidays. Our Commander Bill was then presented with a prestigious CSULN PYRAMID award for his many contributions to Veteran Causes..

Commander Bill informed of the next District meeting to be held at the Anaheim Holiday Inn on Jan 25-27 2008 and verified dinner reservations. He also discussed Support of our troops programs and will keep all informed via E-Mail of the various ways our post may participate, i.e., Free Phone Cards, etc.

Sr. Vice Commander Dan Schmaltz discussed his volunteer work at the VA Hospital and will keep us posted on his efforts to support our returning troops. Dan reminded all of available VFW business cards and that he should be contacted by anyone interested. .

QM Davepresented the financial report showing an opening balance, receipts, disbursements and closeing Balance.

Membership Chairman Paul Lambach reported our post has reached 100% of our goal and thanked all for their efforts. We now rank #2 in the district on this most important achievement. Paul also has been doing good work at the VA Hospital and asked all to remember our returning troops in addition to supporting them overseas. .

Service Officer Jim Mueller reported on the progress of the Los Alamitos Veterans Services Center and noted the complex will eventually have space for VFW Service Offices that will be able to answer veteran questions. He noted that AMVETS has pledged over 3 ½ Million to the Heritage Park. Jim also dist an order form for their Brick Memorial Walk of Honor. Donations are tax deductible. Contact Jim for more details. Jim will also donate a VFW cap for the recruitment of a new member.

QM Dave and R. Coronado commented on Walter Nesbits and Joe Hallams support and loyalty to our post despite of their inability to attend our meetings.

Quarterly Breakfast signup sheets were distributed for 9:00 AM Feb 6th at the Kinda Lahaina at Ocean and Main St. in Seal Beach.

Next regular meeting is Tues Feb 26, 2008 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting)
