Minutes of July 22th, 2008 Meeting

POST MEETINGopened at 7:05 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.

Commander Bill noted that our adopted National Guard Unit is shipping out of March Air Force Base on July 22nd, 2008 for training prior to a 1 year deployment to Iraq in Aub. 2008.
We will keep all members informed of their further depoyment.

Commander Bill and Senior Vice Commander Jim Crowley reviewed past memories of service to our country and noted future plans for veteran reunions. Jim noted tha reasonable costs are available for all veterans to attend these events in the San Francisco area.

Quartermaster Dave Van Aken is recovering at home from an operation. Dave FAX'd the financial report showing the Opening Valance, the Recepts, Disbursements and the Closing Balance. The reprot was accepted as presented.

Member Jim Bradford at the Long Beach VA Hospital Garden Center has extended an invitation for all to visit and to note all the positive changes at this facility.
They continue to improve their good work for the returning veterans.

Commander Bill is working on a "VFW Post Member's Manual."
This will inform all new and longtime members of the Rituals and Operational Procedures during our meetings and events.
Details of each officer's duties will be fully described so each officer will know what is expected of him.
The Manual will also be of interest to Appointees and of Committee Chairmen and members.
It is also a "Welcoming Brochure" for new members so they will be able to grasp the operational procedures of our Social and Regular meetings.
There will also be a section devoted to the Ladies Auxiliary.

Quarterly Breakfast
Robert Coronado
circulated a Sign Up Sheet or our next Quarterly Social Breakfast on August 6th at 9:00 A.M. at the Blackboard Bistro, 1198 PCH in Seal Beach.
All members and spouses are welcome to attend.

Next regular meeting is Tues August 26th, 2008 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting)
