Minutes of July 24th, 2007

POST MEETING opened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.

Commander BobBill reviewed the success of the District School of Instruction for new officers with their new computer technology. He also encouraged all to forward their completed military record form to Dan Schmaltz ASAP. He also reviewed his attendance at the Seal Beach Mixer and requested more participation by all members. Post members voted approval for a contribution towards the cost of framing a tribute to Ed Montana from the new Coastal monthly publication. Our Commander also writes a Veterans article in each of their issues.

QM Dave gave the financial report and noted the District desire for the appointment of an assistant to each QM. Dan Schmaltz volunteered and was appointed to this new position by Commander Bill. QM Dave will contact District to determine how this will affect our post bonding requirements. QM Payment of Mandatory post fees discussion was tabled until next mtg. QM Dave also commented Activity reports must to be turned in at each meeting. Dave reported the Quarterly post audit has been completed. The Auxiliary will send a copy of their June 30th Audit to the post and this will be an annual requirement as per Dist. instructions.

Jim Mueller reviewed his tour of the Veterans Memorial Park Building at the Joint Forces base and noted the Nov. completion goal will be difficult due to the complication of coordinating all the committees. Jim volunteered to fill the Service Officer position and was appointed to this position by Commander Bill. Jim has contributed a total of $715 to our post from all of his recycling programs.

Speaker System purchase for future Veteran Events was discussed at length and Jerry Lingren volunteered to contact Ed Montana for his input and will report back at our next meeting. Jim Mueller offered to explore source for Speaker System currently in use at Leisure World.

Robert Soto read a touching tribute to our post from Marilyn Mansel, the daughter of former comrade John Fisher and his wife.

Orange County Veterans Fair will open in Garden Grove on Sat. Aug 11th from 9am-11am.

Social Breakfast is planned for September 5th 9:am at the Blackboard Bistro. Mark this on your calendar!

Next regular meeting is Tues Aug 28, 2007 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting) Refreshments by Auxiliary & R. Coronado. .
