Social Hour Welcome Home Party for our troops at Camp Pendleton on June 14th was presented in dramatic detail by James & Georgia Crowley during our social hour. Eagle Scout Chris Emmerson attended to thank our post for our backing (Very Impressive)

POST MEETING opened at 7:10 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalties.

Steve Rumsey was introduced as a new lifetime member to our post. Steve was welcomed and gave a brief history of his AF military experience in Vietnam and Iraq.

Commander Bill reviewed the success of our Officer Installation dinner at Finbars and the Flag retirement ceremony at McGaugh School. He also attended the June 21st mixer at the SB Sun and articulated future hopes for Veterans related articles in that paper.

QM Dave gave the financial report and asked approval for a donation to the base beach party. Members voted their approval. Also approved a monthly gift donation to Chamber of Commerce Mixers. QM Dave noted more contributions from Jim Mueller and Albertsons. He Reported Poppy results and noted we need more members to be involved in the future. All members need to be involved in recruiting new members in the coming year to reach post goals. Community Activity report forms were distributed and need to be completed and returned to Dave every month.

Jim Mueller reviewed the progress of the Veterans Memorial at the Joint Forces base and the need for volunteers and donations for a brick walk. (40 letters on each block)

Bob Heenan commented on plans for a Aug 12th change of Joint Forces Command ceremony (Gen. Harrell, 40th Inf. Div.)and will keep us posted on details. Bob should be contacted for information on Nov 11th Job Fair at base.

Dan Whitney distributed information on Old Fort MacArthur Days July 8-9 2007. Flag raising 9 AM, Parade of Troops 10 AM.

VFW Booth at Orange County Fairgrounds needs volunteers on July 18th. Contact Jim Mueller or Rod Carpenter for details.

Speaker System purchase for future Veteran Events was tabled until next meeting.

Jim Crowley distributed an old copy of Yank magazine for all to review.

Next regular meeting is Tues July 24, 2007 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting) Refreshments by Auxiliary & Dave Van Aken
