Minutes of May 27^th, 2008 Meeting

Social Period began at 6:10 PM with invocation given by Jim Mueller, the Auxiliary serving a dinner of Pizza, salad and cake. Commander Bill presented appreciation awards to Auxiliary President Juanita Townsend and David Van Aken.

POST MEETINGopened at 7:05 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.

Commander Bill introduced new member William Trease, a Life Member transfer from Vista Post 7041. Bill introduced the District Installation of Officer team

The 2008-2009 Officer Installation Team from District 2 included Past District 2 Commander Art Peck as Installing Officer, District 2 Officer of the Day, Lou Jordon, who filled that roll of the Team, and Tom Mason a member of the Anaheim Post as Adjutant. The roll of 4048 Officers was called forward and those present were ceremonially installed were Bill Thomas, Commander, Sr. Vice Jim Crowley, Jr. Vice Dave Van Aken, Quartermaster Dan Schmaltz, Judge Advocate Robert Coronado, and 1 Year Trustee Rod Carpenter. The balance of the Officers were absent.

Dan Schmaltz passed around a rendering of a banner he proposed being purchased for approximately $150. Following some discussion it was moved to be tabled by Jim Mueller. Dan also passed around a 2x6 card which was being passed out by a group (Steve Rechnitz & the TwinMed Gang) on Memorial Day with a $100 bill attached. He got in touch with the group and learned that they had given out $50,000 to any current Military personnel.

Commander Bill advised that he was checking with a school in Rossmoor to perform a Flag Burning Ceremony. Dave had indicated we will have about 300 flags available and offered the advice that many of the flags are made of a material that can not be burned by the Fire Department because of the chemical matter content.

QM Dave reported that 12 members has checked out Poppies for distribution. He requested those who have not reported, do so. We will probably match last year's production.

The meeting was adjourned in due form at 7:48PM
