Minutes of October 23rd, 2007

POST MEETING opened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.

Commander Bill introduced Robert Chermak, as the Dist #2 QM and asked for his comments. Robert noted the closing of 2 posts in the district due to many reasons with one being the lack of military records that are required by the district

Veterans Day is Nov 11th (Sunday)at 11:00 A.M. and our commander noted the need for our members to attend. The American Legion is in charge of details this year and will keep us posted on progress. QM Dave noted his speaker plans and that a Nave Ensign has agreed to be the Chaplain. Our Commander stated the Public Address System will be on hand for our ceremonies and we will only need to resolve how the system will be stored. We may need to store in Bldg #6 temporarily after the ceremony. The American Legion and our post will be billed separately for $300 each. Our Commander and Jim Crowley will appear on Studio Café local TV with Jo Dawson on Nov 1st to discuss our Veterans Day plans.

Bill Connolly noted that the poppies are not yet available but passed out a sign up sheet and will contact members for the best way to get them distributed.

QM DaveDave presented the financial report and noted that an audit is scheduled for Oct 25th. Members voted to contribute $200 from our funds for Fire Relief in conjunction with our Auxiliary. Comrade Jim Mueller donated another $50 from recycling programs and Albertson contributed $60 from their Preferred Card Program. QM Dave announced a new member (Robert Clouse) and look forward to meeting him at next meeting.

Adj Wayne stated the next mtg will be attended by our district Inspector who will review our Post Military History files as part of his normal overall post review.

Sr. Vice Commander Dan SchmaltzSchmaltz previously presented post business cards that were ordered by members.. We had agreed to option #4 with a cost of $5 per 50 cards. General purpose cards were distributed to be used for recruiting new members etc. They will again be available at our Nov. mtg.

VOD & Voice of Democracy Program Program Commander Bill has distributed pamphlets to local schools to encourage Essay Entries

Next regular meeting meeting is Tues Nov 27, 2007 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Free Dinner-7:00 PM Meeting) Note: Members voted to cancel Dec Meeting so the Nov Dinner will be our last meeting of the year. All members were encouraged to attend and support our Auxiliary. The Aux also plans a December Luncheon. Details forthcoming.
