Minutes of October 28th, 2008 MeetingWayne Cunningham, AdjutantComm Jim reviewed Nov 11th Veterans Day plans and dist an agenda for all to review. Jim asked all of our members to attend. Jim will be the master of ceremonies this year. Jr. Vice Dave asked all members to sign up for additional Veterans Day Poppies. Dave noted the Aux plans for a no host Christmas luncheon at Finbars on Dec 3rd. QM Dan Schmaltz distributed a computerized financial report showing an opening balance, Receipts, Disbursements and Balance. It was recommended that post funds be donated to veterans as follows: SB Navy Base Welfare Fund: $100, Camp Pendleton Family Fund: $400, SB Marine Family Fund: $400, Navy Relief Fund: $400 and JFTC Troops Family Fund: $400. Members voted their approval. Jerry Lingren, Paul Lambach and Bob Coronado volunteered to study additional donations, i.e. joining the Midway City Post in their worthwhile veterans relief programs as outlined by Inspector Roger Clouse, etc. QM Dan also asked & received payment approval of $25 fee for SB Christmas Parade, $59 Newsletter expense, $42 Jacket emblems & $160 purchase of 2 jackets for Nov 11th award presentation to Bill Thomas & Dave Van Aken. Jim Mueller distributed JFTB Veterans Memorial "Walk of Honor" pamphlets for all to review. Jim also questioned why revised By Laws were sent to post officers and was assured that they were not changed in any way. Paul Lambach who volunteers many hours at the VA Hospital noted the US Army Band plans to perform at the LB Hospital in December. Newsletter discussion revealed that all members received either E-Mail or a hard copy of our latest newsletter and that our post saved a considerable amount of money. Jim Mueller arranged for all members in Leisure World to be hand delivered. We plan to continue this same program for the balance of this year. Next regular meeting is Tues Nov 25, 2008 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social, 7:00 PM Meeting) Refreshments to be furnished by the Auxiliary and Dominic Amatangelo. Members voted to not hold a meeting in December. |
