Minutes of Sep 26, 2006Wayne Cunningham, AdjutantPOST MEETING opened at 700 PM. by Commander Robert Coronado in Bldg. #6 with the normal formalities. Acting Officer of the Day Larry Lerno introduced Dan Schmaltz and Paul Lambach as possible new members to our post. Both gave a brief history of their military service. We thanked Dan for setting up a new web site for our post. Charter was draped in memory of comrade Milton Crow. Commander Bob gave details of the District Aux fundraiser dinner on Nov 12th. He also commented on our attendance at the change of command ceremony at the Naval Weapons Station and the 9- l1 remembrance ceremony at the Community Church. Commander Bob was most impressed by both of the events and noted our post was recognized for our attendance. Jr. Vice Commander R. Heenan gave a progress report on the VOD and Patriots Pen programs and will give more details at next meeting. QM Dave reported on the August 06 financial statement and asked all to review. QM Dave informed that we need at least 5 new members this year to reach our 100% goal. Life Members are encouraged to sign up now before dues are increased. QM Dave informed that Veterans Day Poppies have been ordered and will be available for members to pick up at our next meeting. Commander Bob commented on the plans at the VA Hospital Garden Center for 10:00 A.M. October 19th retirement ceremony for Jim Bradford. Our Post will furnish refreshments and members are encouraged to attend to honor Jim and welcome his successor, Steve Emerson. We are proud to announce that Jim has been presented with the VA Hearts & Hands award. Bob Heenan commented on Outreach program at the Los Al Naval Weapons Station. They will conduct tours of the Base on Nov. 11th, and the Wings, Whee1s & Rotos will be held on Oct 19th. Details of all functions may be obtained from Bob at (562) 212-9585 Seal Beach Christmas Parade is scheduled for Dec1st and our post wil1 have a briefing at 6:00 PM prior to the parade. All members are encouraged to attend in full uniform. Social Breakfast was approved for Wed Nov. 2 at 9:00 A.M. Location will be announced at our next meeting. National Home Ceremony was held in the usual manner at closing. Next regular meeting is Tues Oct 24, 2006 -- refreshments by Auxiliary & Dan Whitney. |
