Minutes of September 25th, 2007

POST MEETING opened at 7:00 P.M. by Commander Bill Thomas in Bldg #6 with the normal formalities.

Commander Bill noted member activity reports are to be turned into QM Dave and Military History forms are to be sent to Sr. Vice Dan Schmaltz ASAP. The Appreciation Dinner by the Auxiliary has been re-scheduled to Nov 27th and all were encouraged to attend. He also reviewed his representing our post at the Military History Program in Yorba Linda..

Veterans Day is Nov 11th (Sunday) at 11:00 A.M. and our commander noted the need for speakers and a bugler. The American Legion is in charge of details this year and will keep us posted on progress.

Paul Lambach was appointed Membership Chairman and post goal was set at obtaining 10 new members by our Commander.

Bill Connolly noted that the best time to attract these new members is prior to Veterans Day while we are offering Poppies. These Poppies will be distributed at our next meeting.

QM Davegave the financial report and noted the post purchase of an additional CD that will return 4.65% in 6 months. Members approved a donation to the VFW Military Unmet Needs Fund.

Sr. Vice Commander Dan Schmaltz presented post business cards that were ordered at our last meeting. We had agreed to option #4 with a cost of $5 per 50 cards. General purpose cards were distributed to be used for recruiting new members etc.

J. Lingren Lingren reviewed details of the Speaker System from E. Montana. His system will be reviewed in 2 weeks but any decision was tabled until all is reviewed in conjunction with the American Legion. In addition Jim Mueller is securing bids from the Leisure World Purchasing Dept. Bids are still pending. Jerry also reviewed the presentation of the VA Patients Garden plants to the Kinda Lahaina Restaurant by R. Coronado and himself to celebrate their reopening. .

VOD & Voice of Democracy Program (R. Heenan) will be contacted by Commander Bill to determine progress to date.

Paul Mackey, Larry Lerno and Robert Soto were not able to attend meeting due to illness and need our support and prayers.

Wings, Wheels & Roto event scheduled on Oct 28^th, 2007 at the JFTB 10AM-4PM.

Social Breakfast is planned for September 5^th 9:am at the Blackboard Bistro

Next regular meeting meeting is Tues Oct 23^th, 2007 at the Naval Weapons Station. (6:00 PM Social Hour-7:00 PM Meeting) Special Dinner by Ladies Auxiliary. Note: Members voted to cancel Dec Meeting so the Nov Dinner will be our last meeting of the year. All members were encouraged to attend and support our Auxiliary.
